Laurie is a National Co-Leader of the BDO Nonprofit and Education Industry Group and the Greater Washington, DC Office Managing Partner for the Nonprofit and Education practice, helping to shape the strategic direction of the industry group for the firm and the local practice. She has over 22 years of experience dedicated to the nonprofit industry in all subsegments, including colleges and universities, public charities, trade associations, social services organizations, and private foundations.
Laurie was awarded one of the 2013 Women to Watch Awards by the Greater Washington Society of CPAs for her contributions to the profession. She is a member of the BDO’s Inclusion –Women National Strategy Team.
She is a regular contributor to the industry group’s blog and quarterly newsletter, BDO Nonprofit Standard. She is a regular speaker at internal and external seminars on topics including accounting practices and internal controls of nonprofit organizations, governance issues, single and compliance audits, leadership development and diversity and inclusion
